Mbale Diocese - Anglican Renewal Conference
The Anglican Renewal Conference was attended by approximately 1,000 people and lasted four days. On arrival we found that two speakers were ill, so we had additional talks to give and sessions to lead. God is gracious and it was a privilege to see him move by His Spirit in the lives of many, during in plenary sessions and smaller groups. The praise and worship was wonderful, lively (loud!) but also gentle, especially when many people responded to prayer to be filled with the Spirit, and prayer on another occasion for repentance and new commitment to grow in righteousness.

The conference in Kenya was attended by 35 pastors. Numbers were lower than expected because of torrential rain the week before. Being a rural area, 15-20 kms. S of Kisumu, many tracks were very muddy and the original venue was inaccessible. We had a great three days and again saw the Holy Spirit glorify Jesus by touching lives gently yet very powerfully. One pastor’s wife was healed at home of paralysis following a stroke at the very moment we prayed for her and laid hands on her husband during a refreshment break at the conference! We have a very real sense that the Lord is going to do a powerful work of renewal and revival through these rural churches in the coming months.
Mike was taken to visit an area where had the privilege of meeting and hearing the testimonies of a number of former Muslims who had become Christians. Their testimonies were humbling as they shared with real joy and lack of bitterness of the difficulties they had faced since leaving Islam.
Our prayer is that the Holy Spirit will continue to encourage and equip leaders and churches members to fulfil the mission the Lord has called them to share with him in Mbale and the area south of Kisumu.
