Coming to faith in Christ
Mike came to faith in Christ as his Saviour and Lord in late 1965 through the Christian Union at Goldsmiths' College, London, where he trained as a primary school teacher. Immediately after coming to faith he enjoyed training and being used as a counsellor for the month long 1966 Billy Graham crusade at Earl's Court, London.
Angie came to the Lord as a teenager whilst worshipping at St.Mary's Church, Reigate.
Both Mike and Angie were privileged to worship at All Souls, Langham Place for two years as students and to sit under the ministry of John Stott at a very formative time in their lives.
Previous ministry
After teaching in the London Borough of Lewisham he went to Wycliffe Hall, Oxford to prepare for ordained ministry in the Anglican Church. He was ordained in the Church of England in 1974 and has ministered in South-West London, Ramsgate in Kent, St.Helier in Jersey and Weymouth in Dorset. He has been privileged to see churches grow in numbers and discipleship as they have reached out into communities with the love and Gospel of Christ.
Wider ministry
Mike has been involved in local evangelical alliance leadership for many years. He has enjoyed the privilege of preaching in churches of different denominations and none and of coming alongside ministers and leaders across denominations and traditions. During his ministry he has served on diocesan synods and various ministry and mission working groups; been involved in local radio; served as mayor's chaplain, school governor and hospice chaplain.
Currently Mike works two days a week as a chaplain at a Young Offenders Institution and Angie joins him regularly to go in for Sunday ministry once a month. During the past twenty years Mike and Angie have visited churches overseas on a number of occasions, and Mike has had opportunity to minister to local leaders on visits to Uganda, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
Together, Mike and Angie have been supportive of leaders and their wives, including those who have been through difficult times in their relationships or circumstances, or in their churches.
Angie is a full time primary school teacher with responsibility in her school for children with special education needs. The Lord has used her over the years to minister the love and Gospel of Jesus to children, parents and colleagues and to bring encouragement in a gentle and supportive way.
Mike and Angie were married in 1969. They have two married daughters and, at the last count, five grandchildren.
